PostSubject: Miss Magix Controversy   Mon Jun 06, 2016 2:21 am

After like an hour after I read these articles, I felt like I had to come on here and address it to you guys as well. A well-known Winx blogger: "Una Doni Winx" has started a campaign for Aisha since her birthday is in 10 days because this problem is revolving around a scene in Season 1 Episode 12: "Miss Magix" where a black girl is crying because her hair is in an afro when it wasn't suppose to be like this.

A blogger who brought this up said that it's saying to younger black girls that their natural hair isn't beautiful and said that the character is Aisha in the episode(Who's my favorite character from Winx). Some critics agree with her and are demanding that Winx should be taken off of Netflix because of the message that they think is been sended.

Some other Winx fans are very angry at this woman for saying this saying that she's misinformed and hasn't even watched the episode clearly enough it understand what's going on.

I've talked to 3 of my friends about this (One of them who watched Winx when it first aired) and all 3 of them including me, say that this is just ridiculous and stupid and should've never been brought up in the first place. I've also said to them that if people have such a problem with it, they've should have said something back when this episode aired which aired back in 2004.

What do you guys think about this problem? Do you agree that this is just ridiculous and that the blogger should have done more research in the episode and actually watched it figure out what was actaully happening in the episode?

Here's the link to the first article that I read, I'll post the other one as soon as I know that one of the words in the link is ok to be on the forum for this kind of thing.

Yeah, we talked about this on Skype earlier. This argument has been around for quiet a few years. It wasn't intended to be taken this way at all, but some people can and will see it as racism. I do believe it was confirmed that it wasn't Aisha either since it wouldn't make much sense if it was. I think this could either way depending on your point of view and how you look at the story and what rainbows intent was.

Aye. This whole thing is stupid. You can't call a whole show racist due to ONE tiny moment from a clip over 12 years ago. There are 7 SEASONS AND 3 MOVIES- yet they want to ban a show based on one moment? How pathetic and stupid. Winx Club is definitely not racist, if you ask me. And it has plenty of good messages for all ages. If you're going to watch a show, please watch it all critics- it doesn't take a 13 year old to tell you this ._.

I'm sorry about the rant- but this whole thing is some stupid person's (not OP) fault. I hope it dies down soon.

Yeah, this is what a lot of other Winx fans are saying because they see it as being misinformed and calling out the critics for not watching the show all the way through and not understanding it clearly what the show is sending to children who watch Winx

This whole thing makes me want to bang my head on desk Sad. I'll be honest, critics will overreact to this type of thing no mystery what or who. They don't get the facts, they fly off the deep end, then this happens. I swear if you're going to pick apart one little less than 10-15 second clip (I remember it) then cast a nap review on the whole show, you've got WAAAAYYY too much stinking time on your hands, lady... Get a LIFE!!

Heh, a group made a petition to get it off Netflix. But that's not going to happen any time soon, especially about WoW, and the company ordered 2 SEASONS of it. Winx is not going anywhere, anytime soon.

Moral of the story: If you don't like it, don't watch it. Don't sit on your butts and complain about it.

Yeah, same with me on YouTube videos. If I don't like it, I don't watch it.

Back to talking about Winx, I agree with you. They ordered 2 Season of World Of Winx and the people who made that petition should know that. They should know that if Netflix doesn't think it's bad for children, then it's not.

Yeah. They know what they are doing, and Netflix doesn't care about that small detail since they KNOW that girl wasn't Aisha.

Well... At least Netflix has some degree of sense. And I agree, if a person doesn't like it, then they shouldn't waste their time watching it to complain on it.

Yeah, same thing I said eariler. If I don't like it, I don't watch it. Simple as that. I don't know why people would take this so seriously when it's just a kids show. They need to learn that this type of show isn't bad for children and instead teaches them good values in life
